Author Payout Policy
This policy explains how authors earn money on SellMyCode — including commission rates by seller level, how earnings are calculated for marketplace products, Premium downloads, and Services, and how and when payouts are processed.
Every seller starts at Starter level. As your lifetime earnings on SellMyCode grow, your platform fee drops automatically — no application, no review, no waiting. The more you earn, the more you keep.
Monthly payouts
Processed once a month on the 15th of each month.
30-day clearance
Earnings are available to withdraw 30 days after the buyer's payment, with no active dispute.
PayPal — min $50
Withdraw to PayPal with a minimum balance of $50.
USDT — min $10
Withdraw to USDT (crypto) with a minimum balance of just $10.
Seller levels and commission rates
Your commission rate is determined by your lifetime earnings on SellMyCode. As your cumulative earnings grow, you automatically advance to the next seller level and your platform fee decreases — meaning you keep a larger share of every sale.
Level upgrades are applied automatically. There is no application process, no review period, and no action required on your part.
| # | Level | Minimum earnings | Platform fee | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Starter | $0.00 | 35% | 65% |
| 2 | Rising Seller | $50.00 | 30% | 70% |
| 3 | Trusted Seller | $150.00 | 25% | 75% |
| 4 | Pro Seller | $200.00 | 20% | 80% |
| 5 | Elite Seller | $500.00 | 15% | 85% |
Even at Starter, our worst rate beats Envato's flat 50%. By Elite Seller, you're keeping 85¢ of every dollar.
Level upgrades are applied automatically and immediately once your lifetime earnings cross the threshold. No action required — your new rate applies to all sales from that point forward.
Earnings from marketplace product sales
When a buyer purchases your product on the SellMyCode marketplace, your earnings are calculated as follows:
For example, if you are a Pro Seller (20% platform fee) and a buyer purchases your product for $100:
- Platform fee: $100 × 20% = $20
- Your earnings: $100 − $20 = $80
This rate applies equally to both Regular and Extended license purchases.
Earnings from Premium subscription downloads
Products listed in the Premium category are available to Premium subscribers as part of their monthly plan. Rather than receiving a per-sale price, Premium earnings are calculated from a shared revenue pool based on your share of total Premium downloads in that month.
Where: Pool = Total subscription revenue × Author %
- Total subscription revenue — the combined value of all active Premium subscriptions in that calendar month
- Author % — the percentage of subscription revenue allocated to the author pool (set by SellMyCode)
- Your premium downloads — the number of times your Premium items were downloaded in that month
- All premium downloads — the total number of Premium item downloads across all authors that month
Premium earnings are estimated and may vary month to month depending on total subscription revenue and overall download volume. Your Premium earnings are shown separately in your dashboard alongside your marketplace earnings.
Premium earnings are calculated at the end of each calendar month and credited to your balance after the standard 30-day clearance period. They are subject to the same withdrawal conditions as all other earnings.
Earnings from Services
Service orders are subject to the same platform fee structure as marketplace product sales — based on your current seller level. When a buyer pays for a service you deliver, your earnings are calculated exactly as they are for a product sale:
For example, a Trusted Seller (25% platform fee) completing a $200 service order earns:
- Platform fee: $200 × 25% = $50
- Your earnings: $200 − $50 = $150
Service earnings follow the same 30-day clearance period and are subject to the same dispute and cancellation rules outlined in the Services Policy.
Payout schedule
Payouts are processed once a month on the 15th. On this date, all earnings that have cleared the 30-day holding period and meet the minimum withdrawal threshold will be processed to your connected payout account.
Buyer completes purchase
Earnings are credited to your pending balance. The 30-day clearance period begins.
30-day holding period
Earnings are held for 30 days from the purchase date to allow for potential refunds or disputes. No active dispute must exist on the order.
Earnings become available
After 30 days with no disputes, earnings move to your available balance and are included in the next monthly payout on the 15th.
Payout on the 15th
All available earnings meeting the minimum threshold are sent to your connected payout account on the 15th of each month.
If the 15th falls on a weekend or public holiday, payouts will be processed on the next available business day. SellMyCode is not responsible for delays caused by third-party payment processors once a payout has been initiated.
Payout methods and minimums
SellMyCode supports the following withdrawal methods. Each method has its own minimum withdrawal threshold:
To receive payouts, you must have a verified payout account connected to your profile and have completed any required KYC verification. Earnings below the minimum threshold for your chosen method will roll over to the following month's payout.
Holds, deductions, and withholding
Earnings may be withheld, reduced, or reversed in the following circumstances:
- Active dispute: Earnings from an order under dispute are held until the dispute is resolved
- Approved refund: If a refund is approved for a transaction, the corresponding earnings will be deducted from your balance
- Chargeback: If a buyer's payment is reversed by their card issuer, the earnings will be clawed back from your balance
- Services cancellation penalty: Authors whose monthly service cancellation rate exceeds 20% are subject to an additional 5% withdrawal surcharge as outlined in the Services Policy
- Policy violations: SellMyCode reserves the right to withhold earnings from accounts found to be in violation of platform policies pending investigation

SellMyCode does not withhold taxes on author earnings unless required to do so by applicable law. Authors are solely responsible for reporting and remitting any income taxes, VAT, sales taxes, or other applicable taxes on their earnings in their jurisdiction.
